Why should people pay for content that they do not like or listen to? This is basically no fault insurance so that those that do enjoy it or those that get into accidents don't have to pay as mush. Let those pay for their own activities. That goes for opera too. The people that enjoy the arts can well afford them instead of passing it off onto others. Same with football. Taxpayers pay for the stadium and the owners and players get the loot. I say pay as you go for your own vices.

Mandatory licensing will work on the radio because the people listening to the radio is paying for the content by listening to the ads and sometimes buying the advertised product. Plus it is in read mode format only. It will not work for the internet because people are making copies and passing them around. What will happen is the content owners will realize the value they will be entitled to and hit everyone up for a big raise when the license contract expires. Even the folks that don't even listen to the content. I don't listen to content that much that will be subsidizing a media content pig that will not be paying there fair share. Or, pay as you go.
