Spot on!!
This is only meant to take power away from the consumer. By making the government enforce rules like this the companies prevent the consumers from deciding with their checkbooks. If these rules weren't there I as a consumer could refuse to buy crippleware and decide to go with one of the companies that doesn't cripple the signal. That would influence buisiness as it was supposed to. Capitalism at it's best, the consumer in the drivers seat. They do not want that because these days what the consumer wants is choice and what buisiness wants is control. These two do not play well together. So government must be forced to step in to make sure market forces do not govern these matters.
