The point he has is that whatever you stated earlier about IBM having no interest in defending RedHat was a flagrant mistake. If you make such statements you better check they're true instead of just making something up.

If you followed the SCO case closer you would have known IBM has high stakes in open source and they'll support open source against lawsuits with their patents if necessary. The success of their open source efforts is highly related to the success of other open source developers ergo a lawsuit against redhat would be nefast for the whole open source community including IBM (and imho even Novell).
