And so would other hardware vendors, you could bet on that. But quite honestly, Don, I don't see MS attempting something like that. I do see the potential that on occasion they will likely send a letter to Red Hat warning them to remove or not to add certain technologies to Red Hat Linux UNLESS they negotiate IP issues with MS first. So? Big deal. Thats the way the software business works. MS is simply not out to unnecessarily anger their customers or even the Linux community. Actually they have a history of severe restraint when it comes to IP enforcement. Sure, the gloves have come off in terms of outright piracy, but who can blame them for that, certainly not me. But in terms of subtle IP issues they have been very reasonable I think and I give them credit for that. I have never known them for example to launch any stupid patent claims like Amazon's 'One Click' thing. With all their faults (and they have plenty) they just don't operate that way when it comes to IP.
