Not right :- here is why ......
First of all ..... internet is not the place to securely store anything ... anything can be leaked ..... Yahoo! also make backup copies of their mail .... then why is everybody so busy with Gmail ????

If one does not feel the comfort of storing mails, he should not use the service .... Gmail is not forcing anyone to use their service ..... when a user signs up for their service .... they are agreeing to the "Terms of Service" .... just like even ZDNet has their own .... if a person feels deep concern regarding their privacy ..... no one should use that service .... everyone should remain with Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail ...

I personally see nothing to worry about Gmail .... if it read the contents of a mail ... then let it do ..... because a person has agreed to use their service under the given conditions in "Terms of Service" when they signed up and that means they have legally allowed to scan their incoming emails.
