Web or POP, what is the difference?
Seriously, just because you can pereminently destroy the data in an e-mail on your local machine still does not mean a copy does not reside at the server.

The mail server of either the reciever or the sender can retain copies of the messages even after you delete it from you local system, so how is that any different?

I understand that it is different if you are deleteing the message off of the server as opposed to leaving it on the server, but you can accomplish either with any mail client. Just because you can no-longer the message using the username/password to gain accesss does not mean that there isn't a copy on the server available to admins, the government, or a good hacker.

I think people should be aware of the differences, but to really worry about it... I believe you take the same chances just using e-mail in the first place.
