Interesting Post; Is it true?
Is it likely that network administrators have protected SQL Server 2005 with an F5 Linux front end? Is it possible that SQL Server 2005 is as the myth - still not ready for prime time. I really have come to doubt that the entire NYSE runs on Microsoft SQL Server. It is far more likely from my unscientific polling that non Microsoft techology - likely Oracle, perhaps DB2 -handles the bulk of NYSE business.

FYI, when a vendor sells a DBMS to a business, the disclosure of its use to the general public is often part of the purchase price. I suspect that Microsoft worked this putting in a clause the prohibited the NYSE from disclosing or allowing other venders to disclose the fact that the NYSE had to bring in other products for a complete 5 9s (99.999 uptime). In anycase, I sure would like a post implementation review. The question of SQL Server 2005 scaling really hasn't been answered. This is especially true if Itanium, where SQL Server 2005 shines is really going down like the Titanic.
