Not so hard either
I can't build a car, but I can drive one. I depend on Ford, Chrysler, Toyota or others to build the cars for me.

I can build a computer than many others can drive. A lot of things go into that systems, but one of the big considerations is user safety. In cars, seatbelts and airbags are included to give safety. In computers, it is what I do not have that improves (not guarentees) safety. Many malware programs look for a registry to plug an entry into. My computer doesn't have one. Many spyware programs look for IE features that will allow them to execute. My computer does not have a single bit of IE code. Many systems use the very transports MS installs to allow there OS to call home to do the same for their malware. My systems do not use MS so this is not an issue either.

Now, I am not married to Linux. There are a few of those distrobutions I use, but BSD, Sun for x86, and a few others also bring all of these same benefits to the table. So if you need to send and recieve Email, do Word Processing, Surf the Internet, and a few other common tasks, then take a look at it. You will find that there is very little difference and a bit more safety.

Keep in mind though that the very first computer virii were written for UNIX, so it is not impossible that these same issues will crop up more frequently on other platforms at som point. Hopefully, the Unix world will not decide to make it as easy on them as MS has.
