Not So Easy
I'm a professor at a graduate school. We have probably 300 students across four programs, and they all access the same computers in three labs. One computer was constantly poping up crap because students will use it to open unexpected email attachments, download and install crap like toolbars and screensavers and other such stuff... and generally do stupid things.

I set the security as high as I could, ran AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy, searched for bs programs.... repeatedly... and could only reduce it, not stop it. Still, students open attachments from people they don't know, and download crap onto the machines despite what we tell them.

Do you *really* think switching to linux is going to *suddenly* make all these people computer savvy? I'm not sure *I* could switch to linux, so I really am doubtful my students could. Some students still don't know how to wait until the drive light goes off before pulling their floppy from the disk drive. We also don't have the person power to switch everything and everyone over, and most of us don't have the money/time/expertise/etc... to chuck our current home system for a Linux one that would do the same and be compatible with work.

"Just switch" is just as good a solution as "just unplug the modem/dsl."
