They have legit fears

I think that the corporations consider the loss of people like you are an acceptable sacrafice.

Think about it like this.

If people like you find something new on YouTube and are encouraged to buy it which you do then that seem good right? Well that's not exactly how the big corporations see it. They see it as you might find something not from them and you might buy it. Every dollar you spend on an independent is a dollar they don't see. Now if you search for say Simpons episodes and in your search you stumble upon another animated series from an independent and you find it funny then go buy that then that's money the corporations aren't getting.

Basically they fear that thier content is advertising drawing customers to the competition. Something no business wants to do.

This was the same thing with Napster.

In the end maybe YouTube like services being legal and free will make the big corporation disappear. One can hope.
