If Consumers Boycott HP -- It Could Save Them
If consumers had completely boycotted Ford Motors 10 years ago, when they lied about the rollover accidents and blamed it on Firestone, Ford might have survived. Now, it appears that even a government bail-out would not save Ford. You can't continue to operate when nobody buys your cars.

If consumers had boycotted Ford 5 years ago, when they offered virtually no hybrids (their current Escape is a joke -- compare to Toyota's price and performance), they might have a serious hybrid line. Now, it seems that Ford will go out of business.

What is the lesson here? HP needs to be taught a serious lesson. They need to reform what is probably some of the worse ethical failure in the last few years.

If IT managers and consumers boycott HP, and send their numbers diving in an expression of protest against their attack on civil rights and the press, it will send a message. A message that can't be ignored -- be a good citizen or be gone. Be dismantled and chopped up like a 63 chevy in a chop shop. Why is a boycott so badly needed?

If HP is involved in another scandal, it could be the end of their brand. Ethical standards need to be beaten into a slobbering, drooling bunch of moral reprobates who will repeat this moral outrage as soon as people's memory starts fading. Without a strong boycott, they really don't have much to stop them from spying again. Only this time, they probably won't get caught.

I think HP is headed for trouble. Mark Hurd is a joke -- won't even admit to congress that he believes that what was done was wrong. He says, "I would do it differently..." but does not disavow his company's spying.

Consumers need to force a purge. Hurd and the board need to go. Investors need to hear from citizens in a way that can't be ignored. Investors don't give a hoot about democracy and civil rights. Citizens should remind investors with a boycott of the top computer firm.

By the way, I advise all to boycott Dell also. Dell knew about the batteries long before the recall.

But buy American when you can!
