I do not thing so
What on earth are you talking about. It is about renewable energy; environmental friendly and nothing more. But if you like economic thinking then here is a point to think. The EU has a goal, 10% of the total consumption of electricity should come from renewable energy sources instead of oil (for EU) or in case of the USA nuclear. If that happens who gets the benefit? Both the consumers since they have electricity for free and the country since it does not export money to buy oil(why exporting money from your country is not beneficial please check any Economics 101 textbook of any US College). It is a win win situation for both parties.

By the way, the subsidy is not eternal but for few years, just to encourage people to turn to renewable energy sources (an approved EU practice). The above is for the "leech off your fellow man, making them pay for your
electricity" thing you said. And unlike you that you are willing to pay your Electricity & Gas Company hundreds of dollars each month I am not !!!

Is it the subsidy that made you sarcastic? Well in my country we pay taxes we get benefits. Is it the same in the US?
