Yeah, Quicktime's pretty lousy...
...until you compare it to Windows Media Player. Remember how WMP 7 completely locked up the first time you expanded it's GUI, then tried to minimize it again, after install? What a hose job. Piece of junk. Had lots of friends get bitten by that one.

Even now, my partner on Win2K can't get her Media Player to play the audio portion of any video files without distortion. I have to play 'em on my Linux box for her. Hey, swell idea--let's store all the critical codec info in the Registry so that next time you upgrade Nero (or any piece of software that comes with its own codecs, apparently) all your older codec install info gets hosed! This is great fun if you run any video editing suites--will audio work today, or will it not?
