they are simply trying to go around the EU-directives against abuse of
monopoly - if the security becomes part of the core OS as opposed to an additional layer of software (in the like of mcaffee, norton, etc), it is no longer an abuse of monopoly, it is simply a better OS...

and I side with m$ on this one, security belongs in the kernel...

i know its not their immediate project, but by grouping the teams, they can propably achieve this in Vista+1 or Vista+2 (or +10 for that matter)
