It's pretty weird. In the middle of the desert the Chinese People's Army built an artificial landscape, 800 x 1000 feet big (that's several football fields), complete with lakes, rivers, roads and snow-capped mountains. It's an exact 1:500 scale-model duplicate of Aksai Chin, which China has occupied since the 1962 Sino-Indian War. In Google Earth you can see a hundred or so troop carriers parked, coming, or going.

Lots of discussion (the discoverer even had to start a blog to manage the buzz: foundinchina.blogspot.com), nobody has figured out what exactly the facility is for, but you don?t build a huge thing like this for fun.

Any ideas?
