Attribution where it is due
For the sake of attributing a saying to it's true author, the adage "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it." comes from Spanish-born, American Philospher George Santayana.

It can be found in "Reason in Common Sense", the first of five volumes of his "The Life of Reason" all written between 1905 and 1906.
