As CEO, it was Patricia Dunn's job to, among other things, preserve the intillectual property of the corporation. If there is a leak of company property, then there is a threat to stockholder's investment. If that leak happens to be a member of the board, then WHAT, IN GOD'S NAME, MAKES HER A CRIMINAL FOR ATTEMPTING TO IDENTIFY FRAUD?!

Someone within HP is pretending to work for the good of the corporation, but is in fact robbing the company of valuable information. That person is not Patricia Dunn. Does it matter if the leak is an IT guy or a board member? The personal records of individuals are private, but so are the records of the corporation.

The Government uses more blatant invasions of privacy all the time, and in a much more reckless manner. Patricia Dunn was working in defense of that which she has given her word to protect. If everyone acted according to such honest principles, then perhaps Ms. Dunn would not be worthy of the title HERO.
