People With Money
I think the issue is preferential treatment for People With Money. This example is simply an illustration of how it works for the largest corporations. Recall that a growing number of elected and appointed officials are being indicted . Add celebrity criminals, and anyone else not blocked by RICO statutes, and you have the sum total of citizens who can defend themselves from prosecution.

In fairness, it's not just having money, it's having money to spend on competent and connected lawyers.
