Is this the same MS as B4 EU ruling?
Imagine ... they go from a "we will participate as long as everybody refuses to allow Sun to play" strategy to a "it might be good to see our SW run on your HW" strategy.

I remember almost 20 years ago when Sun was trying to get Word/Excell ported from MAC to SunOS ... MS flat out refused to play ball with the team they feared more than any other ... people who say Sun is the intransigent miss about 10 years of broken promises by MS to Sun (on SW support for their platform) prior to the Java debacle. Sun even tried to get Wabi standardised whoich would have left control of the Windows API in the hands of MS and would have sold a copy of Windows for every *NIX desktop but MS fought it because apps ran faster under Wabi than Windows and MS was not willing to put the ISV community on a level field.

Imagine, now MS is willing to "cede" a portion of the Windows client server business to Sun ... how generous of them. MS must either be seeing close to zero take up on that segment in corporations or their support concerns for MS-JVM are bigger than they let on.

Or, maybe they are so worried about losing the global franchise (EU and Asian governemnts can be so easily bought) that they are actually willing to take real actions to show good faith before "they win on appeal".
