How was it that the chairman of the board could order and direct an investigation without the involvement of the president and CEO of the company who was supposedly in command of the company's bureaucracy?
If Dunn, as chairman, had her own budget sufficient for that purpose and hired private investigators without involving regular HP employees other than her own staff, that has never been disclosed. If, on the other hand, she was using regular company employees and money, then Hurd was sitting in the chain of command between her and anyone else.
