No such thing as an iPod killer right now....
...and Zune is no different!

Don't get me wrong, this Zune looks pretty good on paper. I can't say if its a good/bad thing yet, because I haven't used one. And that will tell the story as to if Zune will be a sucess.

I remember back when the iPod was first released...and it was laughed at. Then people began to get their hands on it...and the rest is history.

Zune may look good on a hi-res photo, but be a horrible user experience. Or, Zune may offer every bit of a good user experience as an iPod does. Time will tell, however...

Zunes is not going to take Apples spot as the #1 music player creater. Or to re-phrase: Zune != iPod killer!

There have been two big so-called iPod killers in the last few years. Sony tried twise...on was a real music player, and one is the PSP. Both were suppose to be iPod killers. Samsung makes a great player that was suppose to be the iPod killer....but its death stroke was more of wiff. Simple put...there is no such animal on planet earth yet! And here is why:

iPod became a dominant player because of two things: Its ease of use, and its cool factory. However, Apple kept its dominant status because they took the time, and marketing energy, to create an eco-system that makes the iPod too easy to use not to.

Look at all the array of accessories you can do with an iPod. Then find the same level of acessory producs for any other player. There is none! Want to hook up and control an iPod in your car...no problem! Cant do that with a Zen, Dell DJ, Zune, or any other product. Want a nice intergrated speaker/clock radio for your iPod..you got more choices than you can imagine. But how many are out there for Zune (or any other product)?

The eco-system is what helps to re-enforce the iPods dominating status. Without it, you can't even get close to becoming a worthy contendor as "the iPod killer".

'Nuff said.
