Apple's OS X (aka Darwin) is the most widely used Unix
By widely used, I mean number of CPUs. Apple runs it's own technology on top of Darwin. In particular, Apple's display technology does not use X Windows. However, Apple does provide technology to allow X Window applications to run on the Mac desktop. See 'fink' for one of the open source projects that takes advantage of that technology.
