Not just the level of accomplishment, but
the level of PAY they get. Executives tell us time and again they deserve their big wages (and big golden parachutes) because they make the decisions that affect their companies. They take the big butch risks.

If you ask me, and you hadn't, the CEO system merely sets up certain people for a life of indolence. Too many companies have executives making really bizarre if not utterly stupid moves of sheer incompetence and are getting REWARDED for it! Pity the working class isn't so lucky (or even appreciated*), forgive me.

Or maybe we should all become managers and executives. That'd be cool, actually... but then America would lose its status in the world. And who is addressing that? Why our beloved George Allen - you've heard of this cool cat lately: He's a guy who loves to offshore, abuse the H1B system (import people, train them, ship 'em back out), and then call the very people he's offshoring to and bringing in with H1Bs racial epithets! Smoooooth... (not)

* America's working class. Thank offshoring, greed, disregard for the country that made corporations great in the first place (the 1950s seemed a much nicer time...), and the imbalance of wages/cost-of-living and furthering education for that. None of these are in the control of the workers; only those who set the rates.
