I guess it is possible that HP was paying for director's personal phone lines. Possible, but highly unlikely. HP wouldn't have hired a data broker to obtain the information if they were paying the bill. No, this seems to be a case of justifiable anger at an insider leak leading to some really stupid corporate behavior.

This is going to wind up in court (doesn't eveything?). I'm predicting a 97% chance of a civil suit. I also wouldn't be surprised if criminal charges are filed against the data broker. There's no shortage of prosecuters looking to make a name for themselves. The big question is whether Dunn is charged with conspiracy. I doubt anybody goes to jail, but a felony conviction will end Dunn's career.
