Don't like Perl?
Go with Python. I prefer it, Perl is too messy for me (flame bait?).

But your point is too true. I used up a 120 GB HD in 3 weeks with DSL (nothing illegal). I also got just as many CD's full of junk.

But even if you were to... humm... say... trim the fat, you still got a LOT of data on your hand. I do that on a quarterly basis and I only am able to get rid of at most 20 GB. Not much when you got another 100 to go.

Personally, I think there is just a huge amount of data out there, and we are losing most, by not being able to record it. I don't see the last 50 years as just a painful battle, but rather a time where we have slowly lost less and less data that should have been stored. We will forever continue to minimize the data loss, but never be satisfied by the amount we still lose.

So, I guess we will forever have to be picky on what we want to store and what we don't mind losing. Huh... we been at it for 50 years, we MUST have gotten used to it by now happy
