He's not a journalist
He's a business consultant and, of course, has the right to defend controversial business practices in which he believes, as long as he doesn't seek to deceive his audience or pretend to be objective when he's not. Speaking of which, it's unclear whether his consulting business involves arranging the offshoring of work for his customers; ZDNet should disclose such things to make it easier for people to understand the motivation for columns like this one.
