So What? It's Life.
I haven't read anyone's responses but I have an opinion on this matter.

Why do we care? We allow ourselves to be governed by a bunch of worthless human beings who treat human life as a game, while enjoying a $4 Starbucks latte in Disneyland on the Potomac. What should we expect from our kids?

Our (US) moral fiber is completely eroded. We are a morally bankrupt bunch who are owned by the money of people we spent our ancestor's lives to save.

Now we have leaders who are nothing more than legalized murderers telling us and our kids how to live our lives while they contradict all the things they say each day of our lives. If we have someone to blame for day to day acts of violence it is ourselves because we tolerate it, not as acts that occur randomly in society but as catastrophic acts of violence against our universal God's children by our governing class and its monied supporters.
