Not drugs - Everything
Many people simply don't want to believe that, when you enter
ANY country, you surrender ALL rights as far as search and
siezure. This has ALWAYS been the case, in every country in the
world for well past 20 years - more like forever.

Documents have always been subject to search. In the case of a
notebook, that would be simply be a newer method of retaining
documents.

By the way, another little understood fact is that you're just as
subject to search on leaving a country as you are on entering. In
teh case of the US, that's covered under ancient customs law
that requires an Export Declaration (and sometimes an Export
License) for just about anything of value.
