This kind of search has nothing to do with terrorism. Even in this talkback thread, there is the statement above that such search policy has been in effect for over 20 years, and is there because of drugs. Not terrorism.

It seems odd to have such a search, yes, but the fact is, the guy had some kind of record that caused Canada not to allow him into their country. Isn't there some reason to believe that someone who was refused entry to Canada might be worth searching on the off chance you'd turn something up?
