What used to be
There was a time when you could be proud to own a Dell. They used good parts and the customer support was top notch. Fast forward to today and they use modified cheap hardware that can't be updated through regular vendors (cough cough Sound Blaster) and the Service has all been outsourced to India (not that there is anything wrong with india), its hard enough for the common user to explain a problem to a person that speaks the same language let alone someone they can't understand let alone does not speak the language fluidly.

Its really a hard market out there, I just don't know what to recommend to users today, as Gateway is just crap (especially their laptops, I can't tell you how many of the screens went completly black on us at work before we switch to HP). HP just isn't suitable for gaming, even though they have improved signifigantly over the late 90's... Possibly Sony Vaio but they tend to be quite a bit more expensive...
