Intel will do fine
Intel makes a good product. I personally like AMD better and that is what I use (two desktops) but there is nothing wrong with an Intel chip. Both laptops in the house are Intel and work well. Bleeding edge is just that and I bet less than 1% use the fastest available, I know I don't. I am not a gamer so ultra fast is not necessary. Intel has a large market share and may lose a bit of that but will do fine just the same.
