- Yes, valuable to advertizers.
- And they PAY for the content you and I receive for free. Take away that incentive and there is no content. Now if you want to remove the social contract (and laws) so the content creators and broadcasters can charge you and I that is another paradigm completely. In fact they call it cable and satellite. (Pay per view)
