business apathy requires laws
I heard that even the security advocates themselves rarely use encryption or access management technology when it comes to the sharing of information. When you look at that and combine it with the increase in reported security incidents, I think it's obvious that the quickest way for businesses to change the way they protect consumer privacy is if legal enforcement steps up and makes them.

However, just because the tech titans think it's a good idea, doesn't mean their technology is the best answer. The best technology is sometimes the simplest, so look around.
