MLB.com is scared of losing $$$
The issue that MLB and specifically, MLB Advanced Media has with the Sling technology is that it competes with MLB.TV the paid subscription service that allows people to watch live baseball online.

If people catch on to the fact that they can watch baseball that they've already paid for on their laptops, then MLB.com will lose millions in revenue.
