History....
In '89 or so, Robert Morris Jr. released a worm ex[ploiting a feature (bug) in SunOS 4.x that caused it to replicate and eat CPU cycles. It propigated via the Internet and took effectively took down many hosts. In '95, Microsoft releases Windows 95 and Internet Explorer with ActiveX (circal '96, iirc), an extension to COM and DCOM. Shortly after that, Microsoft became the target for viruses, worms and other malicious code.

Microsoft responded to Exploder, and ActiveX control by adding certificated. This feature didn't exactly stop the problem, as Windows did not have a secure base to draw from, it was originally a MS-DOS graphical shell, such taht it didn't really have any security thought in it's design... not even networking until Windows-for-Workgroups.

Due to the spread of Windows, and malicious code (say an ActiveX contol or vbs script) causes an large amounts of financial damage. This is obvious to anyone who has been using computers and networks for the past 25 years! From CERT we find that the majority of security problems stem from Microsft and their poor secrity. They have almost 10 years now of security problems, the current security/viral problems are dominated by Win32 exploits!

Now then, is there a scheduled time when you will grow up and accept some responsibility or are you going to just use tactics of a child? Or is that too much to ask?
