You are stupid "No_Axe_to_Grind" you want to punish an American company for trying to stay afloat? Hell why not, do the rest of the world a favour.

If they don't cut (and workforce is the biggest real cost, that and floor-rental) then the price per unit sold goes up.

The higher price gives worse competitiveness and the more customers (or even vendors!) swap to cheaper systems (after all the only extra your high priced machine has is paying for employees to fill offices - there's no customer/business advantage in that!!!)

Sometimes it means that salesforce won't even push the higher priced machine even if it does have marginally better specs, if they think it will cost them a sale or client.

And for every over-price machine that doesn't get sold... you either have to cut costs (people, real estate, or hopefully not, quality) or put the price up.

The longer the company fails to respond to the marketplace and it's own revenues the more harshly it is going to have to react to stay alive when it finally moves. That's exactly why the previous guy got criticised.

And you want to cut his sales further....are you trying to get more Americans fired (or they could go off shore...)
