How do you know if Jonathan Schwartz...
is pretty smart or will do what's best for SUN? All I've ever read about him is that he's been "a driving force" or that he "came up through the ranks". For all we know, he could be a Scott McNealy patsy.

Also, not being privy to the internal workings of SUN, or their finacials, how can it be said for certain that this is the correct coarse of action right off the bat?

A lot of companies in the past have turned to lay-offs as a means to slash the budget when they have no idea on how to turn their business around.

SUN could just be another one of them...
