No, it's not illegal

If it's illegal to sell items without allowing returns, then I guess the major department store I bought something from today broke the law, because I bought the item knowing that the sale was final and the store had lots of signs up saying so.

When you buy something and are told that the sale is final, you agree to the terms. You can't change the terms if they aren't to your liking afterward, and you can't pick and choose which parts of them should be enforced.

Or do you think that it's OK to pirate software even when you explicitly agreed to not do so when you clicked "I Agree"?

Oh, and if my customer is unhappy, and wants to return the item when I specifically said that all sales were final? Too bad. She lost her right to back out when she clicked "confirm bid". After all, didn't you ever notice that eBay reminds you BEFORE you bid that your bid is a contract to agree to the terms of sale?

I left her negative feedback AND got her account yanked for having invalid contact information, as I found out when I tried to contact her when I hadn't been paid. I had to weasel payment out of this woman. Do I feel bad? No. Am I sorry? No. Am I sympathetic because of her "I didn't mean to buy it, and I got it cheaper from someone else" sob story? No. Do I feel sorry for people like her and you and this car buyer, who think the rules don't apply to them?

Heck no. You reap what you sow.
