Idiots
What are these idiots going to say the first time their system decides that the speed limit on the highway is 30 km/h, and the driver is unable to get up to a safe speed? Sure, drivers make mistakes, but at least they can sometimes recover from them. This is not true for automated systems.

Why not try these ideas also?
1. Test it out on all the police vehicles first. Put in a switch so that when the lights/sirens are going, the governor is deactivated. I'm sure the police would like for everyone to see them going no faster than the speed limit when they're just cruising.

2. Test out systems that will automatically stop for lights and signs. The corrolary is a system that will accelerate the vehicle within three seconds after the light turns green.

3. Test a feature that forces those in left/right turn only lanes to actually turn instead of continuing on straight. Even better, add a feature that forces cars to stay in their lane unless the blinker is on.

4. Add features to force the proper following distance from the car in front. They could also add a feature that reduces your speed automatically to protect the car behind you - Just in case they might be following a little too closely.
