Global Warming - CO2 emissions only half the problem
In his very realistic, yet conservative discussion on Global warming (see "kissing goodbye to Kilimanjaro's snow"), Michael Kanellos omits the other, more serious half of the equation.

While he points out that carbon dioxide is slow to dissipate in the atmosphere, he failed (perhaps deliberately) to mention that the most important absorber of this gas is being depleted at a rate which should be more alarming than the increased production.

The wanton destruction of the world's equatorial forests is probably more urgent a matter (and more of a threat to mankind)than Iran's nuclear ambitions, Saddam Hussein's genocide, and China's growing economic strength; yet the world's richest nations - many previously colonists - neglect to do the right thing about our planet's "lungs"...

That the world's richest, and strongest nations are neglecting this irreversible destruction as they fight for more oil is beyond understanding.

Such unbelieveable hypocrisy and short-sightedness will not go unpunished... yet who will pay?

...every creature on this doomed planet.
