Not sure why you're saying that about .Net. .Net is awesome, I love programming in it. It's faster than Java, not just a scripting language like PHP. Don't get me wrong, I really don't care what I use necessarily for programming, or even for the desktop (as long as I can play my PC games easily). I've used PHP before, and a little Perl, although I can't stand the stuck up Perl users out there. But I have to say .Net is an awesome programming environment, for the Microsoft platform and even for others soon. It's a great technology idea, and others should try for the same thing. Having a nice, large class library and framework to work with is great.

I'd like to learn more, when I have time, about programming web applications on the Linux platform, too. What do they have that compares to .Net? PHP seems to be the biggest, but what compares to .Net? And please don't say Java, I hate how Java runs. But I am open minded and wouldn't mind spending some more time learning Java and what it can do.
