Difficult to Create a LAN with XP?
Odd, I set up a LAN at home with some XP boxes on it (5 to be precise) and all it took was plugging in the cat-5 to the NICs and running the wizard in XP. I think the total time spent was about 15 minutes.

If you're having trouble setting up LANs with XP, you might want to review some basic data on the subject.

Or are you refering to a mixed-OS LAN like the one I have at work? We have W2K machines, XP Pro machines and a Linux box or two as well as 8 servers (4 clusters of 2: database, web, file/domain, e-mail) on a mixture of W2K and W2003, and a linux box as the phone system server.

That took longer to set up, of course, but adding a new XP machine to it takes all of about 10 minutes, if that.

As to why you would hope that a new product is a "dud", that seems kind of counter-productive. Or do you make your living fixing broken systems? In that case, the worse the system is, the more money you make, I guess.
