It is hard...
I'm confused, what is it about XP that is so difficult to configure/use? I'm the 1st person to criticize any of the old consumer MS OS's with the mixed hooks, and frankly NT wasn't a real pleasure to support either. On the other hand, I've found XP to be a pretty darn solid OS, and very user-friendly platform. It's our primary workstation platform in the office (120,000 users) and since we've transitioned from NT, our trouble calls have reduced by about 60%. At home I have an all XP network, my 11 and 14 year olds can configure MS Home Networking in about 3 minutes. I don't think you can say that about Linux, OS 10, etc. I have a lot of problems with MS re: their licensing requirements, competition etc. But in order to be taken seriously you can't just criticize everything that comes across the plank - the big buzz on MS prior to W2K and XP was it wasn't stable enough, which was true, now that has been resolved (and based on my experience XP is just as crash-proof as any other workstation OS), give credit where it is due, or don't say anything. Otherwise you just come off as another whiner.
