There's another way ...
And it doesn't involve flamebait or name-calling.

Here's a wild idea ... Microsoft creates it's own competitor to Windows. Yes, TWO Microsoft operating systems!!

Let Windows remain the backwards compatible bloated crapware that it will continue to be so long as it's built on the same flawed 30 year old code. Make something new ... from scratch ... from the ground up ... with NO backwards compatibility. Or at worst, some sort of 'compatibility mode' like Mac users had for legacy apps running on OSX.

If they build it ... and it's BETTER ... I'm pretty sure Microsoft could put the marketing clout behind it to phase out their Windows legacy once the new system is out there, and software becomes available. Is it a long-term strategy, certainly. Would it make Wall Street happy? Probably not. Would it ensure a future for the company? Most likely.

It can be done, it can be successful. It would just take some corporate cajones to do it. I mean, if a bunch of 'penguin-loving commies' can put together the biggest threat to Windows in their spare time, what could a dedicated group of paid brainiacs do?
