Oh there's a way out...
But like most things, the cost of doing it far outweighs the benefits. And I'm not talking about using any *NIX as the backbone, so sit down you anti-Microsoft, penguin loving commie trolls.

I'm talking about a complete and utter rewrite of the entire Windows OS. It *could* be done (... in several years..) but its not worth it because IF they did it (weren't they supposed to with Vista?) too many idiots would complain that it "broke" existing things and then the result would be the same: All the "M$ sucks" chants, even when they try to do the RIGHT thing. So.. maybe you're right. There is no way out, but its not Microsoft's fault; it's the fault of people who need everything to be backwards compatible with every two-bit ancient legacy piece of crap software they ever bought over the past 10+ years because they're too ******* cheap to buy the NEW versions.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but isnt Windows written in C++ (well, C/C++ I guess)? That's a piss-poor language (Isn't LINUX written in C?)?? What would you reccomend, one of those open-source languages like Python or that Ruby thing (those seem to be big with the penguin-loving commies nowadays)?
