Forty years ago, one of my first clients in public relations warned
me via the Sears example, never to commit too much of your
business to one customer. One of the big three auto makers
tried it on him when they turned down a truckload (a year's
production) of parts because 7 out of a million parts were faulty.
The customer tried to leverage a ridiculously low price. My client
said "send'em back." The auto maker took them at the original
price. Had my client given in, it would have almost put him out
of business.
If this is happening with Microsoft, its vendors need to stifle
their eagerness to sell their all to M$. It may keep them in
business.
