It's the apps, stupid
Seriously, you really think that 95% of the world care about the OS they use - it's the apps. More and varied apps than *nix cultists can dream of. What you see as a monopoly, I see as standards. What you see as cutting edge, I see as 80s development systems. I was there when Unix was born and used and there is still nothing to get excited about.

A case in point. My 80 year old mother uses XP regularly. In the rare times when she needs help she simply asks me (150Km away) for remote assistance through her FREE Messenger. I then take over her desktop and let her watch as I offer assistance. I'm sure there's bound to be some convoluted way you could do it in *nix, but I don't see my mother using it.

Of course the *nixers are too busy running Benchmarks, web servers and propping up open source to care wink
