Da Vinci and Selling
I am persuaded and will pick up a copy at lunch. The message of the film is that a lot of problems in the world - which basically boil down to not treating each other well - can be blamed on marketing of a story rather than on facts.

Preston Gates and Ellis was formed by Bill Gate's father specifically to promote the story of Microsoft not being guilty of antitrust violation. BTW - I take credit for inventing the term "Found Guilty of Antitrust Violations".

In another life I had been flamed royally for calling Microsoft guilty. I researched hundreds of documents using that guilty term in reference to Microsoft but my handler was unrelenting. Finially it dawned on me that only criminal people are found guilty and criminal organizations are found in violation. This is technically correct.

However the term - Microsoft was found in violation - does not really impart the reality of what the company has done to our industry, the nation, and the world. Hence, my selling of the term - found guilty of antitrust violation.

This is a term that conveys meaning and is not technically a fact. Such a selling is also called lobbying.

The lobbying by Preston Gates and Ellis on behalf of Microsoft involved Abramoff, who was their employee, and the corruption of the Bush Administration. Remember, Clinton and Reno and Jackson had slam dunked the fact that Microsoft was a criminal organization. Yet the perception still may be otherwise owing to the lobbying.

During that other life, I remember pointing out that those who worked at Semantics really worked for Microsoft as subcontrators because security is a core function of an operating system. It was only by agreement that Semantics existed was my point.

Consider the possibility that the Gates Crime family controls both companies. Would not legal action be useful in extracting wealth from the non-crime family shareholders?
