Microsoft steals ideas and profits
What amazes me is the parallel between this case and several others against Microsoft.

For example, DoubleSpace ? a rip-off of STAC. Microsoft gains access to the inner workings of a useful utility, then integrates it into its own operating system thereby deeming the competitive product obsolete.

See: http://www.mackido.com/History/Where_is_stack.html

Below is a link to an article explaining how Microsoft had negotiations with Stacker, then (Microsoft) laid out unreasonable terms causing Stacker to abandon negotiations. However this didn?t prevent Microsoft from using Stacker code, which later had to be removed from Windows.

See ?Legal Issues? about ? way down the page:
http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/enc3/ms-dos3

But where anti-trust comes into play is the entire practice of observing how 3rd party products enhance the operation of the computer system. Microsoft sees what works well, then essentially steals the idea and incorporates it into its own system.

For example:
- Netscape Navigator
- Eudora Pro
- Stacker (as mentioned above)
- Quarterdeck QEMM and Max386 (memory enhancement programs)

Microsoft steals ideas then pushes the little guys out of the picture.

I think this is why many people hate the idea of using Microsoft products. It just makes me sick to think about how the rich get richer by stealing ideas and riding on the backs of the little guys.
