Lets recognize the significant fund raising value that the Bush administration has in the telephone records it obtained from several phone companies. If a business wanted to judge the effectiveness of a competitor's advertising campaign - just for example - that competitor could purchase a report mined from the data showing the increase in phone calls to the order phone line of the competitor. Of course the report would be reviewed in a commitee similar to those the Bush administration had involving energy which likely included Enron executives. This data has no ligitimate purpose for governments. Its fund raising potential undermines the Republic.
